Jonathan writes about tips, tricks, and bookmarks on his blog at Snook.ca. He has also written for A List Apart, 24ways, and .net magazine, and has co-authored two books, The Art and Science of CSS and Accelerated DOM Scripting. He has also authored and received world-wide acclaim for the self-published book, Scalable and Modular Architecture for CSS, sharing his experience and best practices on CSS architecture. Vitaly Friedman loves beautiful content and does not give up easily. From Minsk in Belarus, he studied computer science and mathematics in Germany, discovered the passage a passion for typography, writing and design. After working as a freelance designer and developer for 6 years, he co-founded Smashing Magazine, a leading online magazine dedicated to design and web development. Vitaly is the author, co-author and editor of all Smashing books. He currently works as editor-in-chief of Smashing Magazine in the lovely city of Freiburg, Germany.

Bruce Lawson

Bruce Lawson evangelises open Web Standards for Opera. He was previously content editor and technical lead for The Law Society and the Solicitors Regulation Authority websites. He was a member of the Web Standards Project, and on the working group for the W3C Mobile Web Best Practice Guidelines. He began converting his own site to HTML5 at Christmas 2008, and co-wrote the first book on HTML5, Introducing HTML5. He's wanted to visit Romania since 1989.

Dan Rubin

A designer, photographer, and user experience advocate, Dan Rubin speaks at conferences and teaches workshops around the world on various topics, as well as having worked with clients including MailChimp, Google, Yahoo!, Microsoft, Meebo, Geffen/Universal, and IDEO.

Following a stint as Creative Director for moo.com in London, Dan currently works with clients around the world through Webgraph, a design, branding, strategy, and development studio he co-founded in 1999.

Talk: Hands-on Prototyping with HTML & CSS

Usability testing and design are often separate processes — but it doesn't have to be that way, and it doesn't need to be difficult or time-consuming, either.

Presented as a case study review, Dan explores examples from a real life project, explaining the method of testing and prototyping used, and showing the value of making adjustments to a design during testing, exposing changes in behaviour that could not have been otherwise observed.

Talk: Introducing Web Components

It's no overstatement to say that Web Components are set to revolutionise the way we create web pages. Web Components is a suite of technologies including templates, custom elements and Shadow DOM, which are aimed at creating reusable content modules which can be shared across multiple pages without interfering with other code. In this talk Peter will take a walk through each of the modules and show how quite simple HTML, CSS and JS are combined to create the future of web development.

Vasilis is one of the founders and Head of UX/UI at Skroutz S.A.  Skroutz operates the biggest price comparison engine in Greece, expanded the business recently to Turkey and is employing more then 50 people with the majority beeing high profile engineers. A big believer in standards and bleeding edge solutions his favorites sayings are: "You can't fix the system if you don't break the system" and "Fuck it, ship it!".

Vasilis was born and raised in Germany and studied Electrical and Computer engineering at the National Technical University of Athens

Talk: The responsive mindset

While responsive design is all the rage in recent months and has drawn lots of attention to it, the responsive mindset - or from the users perspective, the responsive experience - covers much more then viewports and fluid grids. It covers everything from information architecture to device capabilities, from representation to execution. In this talk I am trying to frame the responsive mindset in a whole, as it has developed inside our company and the way we are trying to solve it.
